In a previous life I was a producer of promotional/ fund raising videos, and my sister, who runs a non-profit that deals with issues related to injured firefighters, had me create a video for her organization. It tells the true story of one FDNY firefighter who suffered severe PTSD and yet was terminated without pension or healthcare after 18 years on the job. This is not an isolated incident; apparently dozens of firefighters who lived thru the 9/11 aftermath are not getting the treatment they need, and when they self-medicate they get canned.
