Global Distribution

Well I must apologize to my regular blog readers here… I have been somewhat remiss in posting anything lately. But I have a pretty good excuse. I have been busy.

Before I forget, this Friday (October 5, 2012), starting at midnight I will be co-hosting the Jordan Rich show, from midnight to 5 a.m.  See the podcast or listen live here:

Mostly I’ll be providing comic relief, but for one of the segments of the show, I will be the featured “interviewee,” in which I will make the official announcement: my latest book, “Getting in Touch with Your Inner Rich Kid,” is now (or is soon to be) available in bookstores throughout the English-speaking world.

Writing the book was one thing; that took well over two years. Creating the cover and the final print edition text was another mountain to climb. The kindle edition was yet another mountain to climb.  But the biggest step was delegating the distribution.  And now, at last, you can walk into any bookstore in the United States and buy your copy. You won’t find it on the shelves, but the friendly clerk behind the desk can order it for you.

In a few days, it will be available throughout Canada, and in a week or two, it will be available in the UK and most of Europe.

One of the biggest lessons of the book has to do with the correlation between trust and wealth. I was not able to do this global distribution with my previous two books, partly because I was unable to trust both myself and the available distribution partners.

I have often wondered, since I have always fulfilled the majority of orders for the book myself (for the past seven years, I have been making almost daily trips to the post office to ship books), what I would do if one of my titles “caught on”? Now I don’t have to worry about that. My focus has shifted from “where can I get the best deal on padded envelopes?” to “how can I promote this book?”

For me, a former “poor kid,” such a broad expansion of my trust energy has been both exhilarating and exhausting.

Again, my interview on the show will most likely be available as a podcast for listening at a more reasonable hour. I will post when I have it.  — jl
