Well it seems like only yesterday (if 1984 feels like yesterday) that I came up with the idea for “Peter VS. the wolf.” Good grief… it will be the 30th anniversary in a couple of years? How time flies. Anyway, in all those years, there has never been a time when the piece was not scheduled to be done some place, and it’s been done somewhere every season. I just can’t kill it.
So along with the annual production down in Florida last October, and the fabulous productions by the Nuremberg State theater in November and December, next month the Helena (Montana) Symphony is doing it, then the Rochester Philharmonic is doing it again, then another orchestra in Germany is doing it (Dortmund), and then a Civic Orchestra in Iowa is doing it after that.
It has been done on four continents now, and there was some talk of it being done in South Africa, and I keep hoping some orchestra in China will realize that the translation is already done.
