Folk Songs for the Modern Era

When I was a kid growing up in the sixties, social issues were discussed, not just by polarized pundits, but by musicians who wrote folk songs.  As I look around today, I see a paucity of folk song commentary on our collective contemporary condition, and I find this odd.  So I am working on a few folk songs myself.  A few titles of works in progress:

John Henry Was a Sales Data Number-Crunching Man

This Cube Is Your Cube

Where Has All the Capital Gone

The Answer My Friend, Is Blowin’ in the Cloud

If I Had a Talk Show

Leavin’ on a Skype Conference Call

Go Tell it on CNN

Kisses Sweeter than Genetically Modified High Fructose Corn Syrup

Charlie and the TSA
