As Albert Einstein once said, the difference between genius and stupidity is, genius has limits. While everyone is aware of how we celebrate stupidity on the first of April, it's not surprising that many people don't realize that April is the month we celebrate International Lack of Awareness Month, and even with a whole month, it’s hard to pack in so many fun activities for you and your family. Here are just a few highlights:
April 6th: Free Knowledge Pickup (check schedule in your area)
Got too much useless information floating around in your head? One day each year, trucks and volunteers will come to your house and haul it away for free. Don’t miss this opportunity, some people pay as much as $100 an hour or more get rid of excess thoughts and memories. Throw that stuff out! You don’t need it! Sorry, not tax deductible.
April 12: Special Mythbusters Stupidity Episode
In this episode, Adam and Jamie will test the classic Captain Kirk/ Star Trek myth that one can make computers explode by asking them stupid questions! Also, Kari, Grant, and Tory will test the power of "dumb luck" and "fool's courage." This is a great introduction to the scientific power of stupidity! Will there be an explosion at the end? Could be! Don’t miss it! Check local listings.
April 19th: National Dropout Day:
Wow, special event this year! Major stars and celebrities like Ted Turner, Woody Allen, Richard Branson, and special guest Bill Gates will all apologize for not having finished college. Just think what they could have achieved in life had they just stuck with it! See local PBS listings for showings in your area.
April 20th: Embrace Your Inner Idiot: National I-Don’t-Know Day
This is the big day! On this day you get to relax and admit that you don’t have all the answers! You can join with your neighbors, traveling house to house, singing “Begin the Beguine” or “Columbia the Gem of the Ocean” while la-la-la-ing the lyrics you can’t remember.
On this day it’s customary to give all your friends a copy of Principles of Applied Stupidity, or better yet, schedule an event with Justin Locke as the featured speaker! Get on the winning side! Stupidity is infinite! Learn how to put the power of non-thought and the lack of knowledge to work for you!
