Well I have to say, I am absolutely amazed… I whipped up a free e-book on dealing with stage fright (it was based on very small part of my “principles of applied stupidity” lecture), and in less than a week it has been downloaded more than 700 times. Wow.
Again, I have to credit David Meerman Scott, I got the idea of publishing “free stuff” from his book, “the new rules of marketing and PR.”
This has inspired me, so I did a another free e-book of highlights from “real men don’t rehearse.” To me, a free e-book is the equivalent of someone browsing in a bookstore. And I would much prefer that someone browsed and read a few pages of my books before plunking down their money. I really hate the idea of an unhappy customer.
Amazon does something very similar with their “look inside the book” feature, but now I can do something very similar or even better for my customers on my web site. Yay.
